Blackout

Installation, wood and cane

exhibition: Cassano d´Adda, Italy, 2013

In 2007, wordwide fund for nature started a global action “Earth hour”, which encouraged people from all over the world to turn off the light for one hour to save our planet and to take action on climate change. This action was announced by the media from all over the world. For the first time, the action took place on March 31st 2007 in Sydney, Australia at 7:30 pm, with 2.2 million participants. In 2012, the action was taken up by people from 152 countries. Blackout is a synonym for turning off the light , and is an art project in which we replace the means of communication with natural resources, to remind people to save energy. Changes occurring on the Earth and the Sun can affect the intensity of the sunlight that reaches Earth’s surface. “Blackout” is a project that determines new ways of communication, where natural light requests help for the Earth. It is about the use of natural energy as an element of artistic intervention, in order to increase global awareness of the energy problem.

“Blackout” was an art action for the environment at Ecoismi 2013, an event organized and promoted by the City of Cassano d’Adda, which brings the roots of a territory into a dialogue with the languages of art and creativity.
